Model T of mass housing

The Model T of mass housing - moladi The mass production techniques Henry Ford championed in the automotive industry, lean production and lean assembly, is what our CEO, Hennie Botes is focused on implementing in affordable mass housing in order to eliminate waste, speed up production resulting in cost reduction moladi - Mass Housing Construction System Hennie Botes - CEO of moladi - Ford Model T Mr Hennie Botes, CEO of moladi , talks about solving the housing problem in developing countries and helping relieving poverty, through the use of a reusable, recyclable and lightweight plastic formwork mold. moladi approaches building construction as a "Production Line" similar to that of the automotive industry. "One of the important principles under a lean production paradigm is termed "lean assembly". This refers to simplifying the process of assembly through industrialisation, modularisations, standardisation, and continuo

Hennie Botes Emily Ahearn 1999

Hennie Botes -  Interview - Emily Ahearn 1999   Emily Ahearn SP.746 March 31, 1999 - Massachusetts Institute of Technology New Building Materials Provide Low Cost Housing in South Africa Affordable housing is coming to South Africa in the form of a new building technology created by Moladi Construction Technology. The technique was developed by Hennie Botes, founder of the South Africa-based company. The process starts with an injection molded plastic formwork used to construct walls. The large, wall-sized sheets can be arranged to form a house of any size and design desired. The formwork is then filled with a mixture of local river sand, cement, water, and a harmless admixture. When the plastic formwork is removed, the walls can be painted and a roof erected to complete the house, the entire process taking only a matter of days. "Traditional building methods cannot possibly hope to meet the demand [for low cost housing] promptly without forfeiting

Plastic moulds moladi houses

Plastic moulds moladi houses Plastic Moulds moladi houses Plastic moulds moladi houses Unique technique for quick house building: use recycled plastic moulds structures to pour a mortar mix. The work is claimed to be done in one day (four hours to setup the mold structure, two hours to fill it), then needs 7 days to strengthen. Each modular plastic panel is 30x30cm, can be reused up to 50 times, and the wall thickness vary between 100 and 150mm. The current system considers the inclusion of the doors, windows, toilet and kitchen system. The electrical and plumbing systems are (somehow) integrated in the mold structure. Founded in 1986 by Hennie Botes in South Africa, moladi came to birth with this solution to the answer the critical situation of housing, combined with the lack of skills. The assembling process is apparently extremely easy, especially considering the overall timespan of a brick construction. Hennie Botes claims indeed that “over 90% of a construction
